Business Solutions - Examples of Support Provided to Businesses in North Wales

Development of New Small Business Systems:

This networking organisation simply needed to record basic business information to keep track of it’s members, subscriptions, attendance at events, business sectors supported, etc. Classically, as the organisation grew systems put in place at the outset became overloaded. A basic Access database was all that was required to provide a solution for the organisation.

Similarly, this local authority wanted a simple database to record details of all the businesses within its boundaries and a further database to record enquiries from those businesses to the authority. Red Wharf Systems was able to quickly develop solutions to each of these problems.

A souvenir manufacturer who distributed its products to vendors in North Wales on a sale or return basis needed better stock control. A vital requirement of the business model was the ability to track products on credit at each vendor and Red Wharf Systems was able to provide a solution to this, again using Access systems.

This fabric company provided a direct service in customers homes throughout North Wales. Each sale required visits from both the sales force and the installation team. Management struggled to keep track of where its operatives were at any one time and basic operations were failing, leading to situations such as double booking of company vehicles, operatives being being assigned tasks when on holiday, etc. This was resolved when Red Wharf Systems was commissioned to develop a diary and time keeping system for the company.

An estate agent required a simple database to track sales so that commission to its sales force was assigned correctly. Red Wharf Systems provided the soolution within a week.

Re-Structuring of Existing Systems

A North Wales branch office was required to report extensive statistics to head office. An Access database had been developed to provide the required information but had become out of date - requirements for data continuously changed and extra information was frequently requested. Red Wharf Systems was asked to review the database and was able to simplify its structure by improving the logic of the linkages between the underlying tables in the database. This allowed additional tables to be included so that extra information could be input, improving reporting and creating a structure that facilitated easy data extraction.

This North Wales IFA had purchased a standard package to maintain client portfolios. However, the package was inflexible and it was not possible to amend the functionality and this led to the company designing manual systems around the requirements of the computer! Red Wharf Systems designed and developed an Access database system to processes dealings in client ISAs, PEPs, With Profit Policies, Bonds, Pensions and Insurance Products in this multi-user environment, includes a full reporting suite and historical tracking. It was a requirement of the project to develop procedures to convert from the previous IT system, including the development of tools to migrate data from the old system to the new database.
